Details of Cancer Program Offers Tips to Stay ‘Sun Safe’

Posted by Yafr Qqater in Business

There’s no denying that being on a beach holiday, outside in the warm and sunny weather, is wonderful. Are you, however, sun-protected? When planning to spend time outdoors for an extended period of time, there are a few things to keep in mind to avoid painful sunburns, sunstroke, and the possibility of developing skin cancer in the future. Here are a few pointers to keep in mind so that your summer beach trip doesn’t end in disaster. original site

Pick and Add Sunscreen! Sunscreen is a substance that you add to your skin and that, once absorbed, protects you from the sun’s rays. Choose a sunscreen that offers UVA and UVB protection. Choose a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher, particularly for babies and children aged 6 months and up who are more sensitive to the sun. Sunscreen should be reapplied every 2-3 hours after it has been applied and for the remainder of your sun exposure.

Stay indoors between 10 and 4 p.m.! Given its height in the sky and proximity to the earth, the sun is at its most strong between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. You will reduce the chance of adverse sun exposure by limiting your exposure to ultraviolet radiation during these hours. If you simply like being outdoors, or if your work allows you to be outside, the best security is to choose and apply a good sunscreen, or to dress in clothing that protects your eyes.

Cover up so you don’t get sunburned! Sun security can also be achieved by wearing clothing that protects exposed skin. Wearing long-sleeved tops, long trousers, or long skirts will help protect your skin as much as possible.

Cover your mouth with your lid! While a baseball cap can shield your scalp and face from the sun and help prevent sunstroke, a proper wide-brimmed hat can also protect all of your sensitive skin from the sun.

Keep your eyes safe from what’s up in the sky! Sunglasses shield your eyes from the same dangerous UV rays that sunscreen protects your skin from. Long periods of time spent outdoors without adequate eye protection over the course of your life can increase your risk of developing eye disease. Sunglasses with UV protection can help avoid sun damage to your eyes. You don’t have to spend a fortune to find sunglasses that will shield you from UVA and UVB rays; just make sure the label says the sunglasses are 99-100 percent UVA and UVB protected.
